Digital Creative Memoir

TUTORIAL

This post will cover the steps needed to create a Digital Creative Memoir. Blogger will be the tool used to complete this task. Images can be inserted but audio and video will need to be embedded.Your instructor will invite you to join the class blog. Your author permissions allow you to create a new posts.

TOOLS

Blogger - Account is synced with your Gmail (Tmail).

TUTORIAL: ACCESS THE BLOG

 1. Easiest way to get to Blogger is to login to Tmail. Click the Apps icon then click More and select the Blogger icon.



2. Clicking the title Creative Digital....will take you to the blog dashboard. The orange icon creates a new post to the blog. The grey paper icon takes you to the blogs dashboard and to a list a the posts. The View blog lets you view the published blog.




 3. Click the Title.

TUTORIAL: CREATE A POST

1. Click the orange New post button or the grey pencil icon to create a new post.
* After you Published or Saved your post it will appear here in the post list. 



 2. Highlighted in the image are some of the more Blogger unique post editor tools you will use. The other tools are very similar to other text editors.



Post - This is the title of your blog post.
Publish - This will make your post go live and viewable on the internet.
Save - Save a draft of your post and publish at a later time.
Preview - Preview your post to see what it will look like online.
Link - Enter an external link to a website or a link to an email address.
Image icon -  Insert an image by uploading a file, search your Picasa albums, or pasting an image URL.
Video icon - Insert a video by uploading a file or searching YouTube. Uploaded videos are not searchable. Upload time is dependent on the size of your specific video and internet connection.
Jump break -  Lets you create expandable post summaries in your post, so longer posts appear as an intro with a link to Read More.

TUTORIAL: EDIT A POST

1. Click the post title or hover the mouse over the title and click Edit.

 

2. If your post has been published click Update to see changes. If your post is still saved as a draft click Save. You will see different update option depending on the status of your post.

TUTORIAL: EMBED CONTENT

1. This short tutorial will show you how to embed from Soundcloud and YouTube. But you can embed content from any site that offers an embed code.

2. Find your YouTube video you want to embed. Then click Share -> Embed -> Change the Video size -> Copy the embed code.



Find your Soundcloud audio you want to embed. Click Share.



Click Embed -> Choose your view -> Copy the embed code



3.  Go back to Blogger and click the HTML button. Paste your embed code(s).





 4. Click the Compose button to see your embedded content.
