How to use the Sony HXR-NX30U Camcorder

Tutorial

This tutorial will show you how to setup the Sony HXR-NX30U Camcorder for audio and video recording

1) The Sony Camcorder you'll receive will have a wide screen microphone as well as an Audio-Technica microphone and receiver set for finer control over audio being recorded

2) The Camcorder is able to record through just one or both of the microphones so it is up to you to decide what combination you want to use the microphones in. The options available are:

  • Wide screen on Input 1: This allows you to grab all the audio in your recording space.
  • Wireless mic on Input 1: This allows you to grab just the audio being directed into the microphone
  • One mic on Input 1 and the other on Input 2: With this configuration, sound from both microphones will be combined into one audio track.
3) On the camcorder, you have the option to record on either 1 audio channel or 2 channels

  • CH1 recording: This allows you to record in mono with all sound combining together in one channel.
  • CH1 & CH2: This lets you record in stereo sound to add an element of audible perspective to the final product.
4) Video recording involves simpler settings than audio as it is simply a point and shoot recording system. Simply press the start/stop button to begin recording and press it once again to stop the recording.
